Blue Air

Romania’s largest airline Blue Air announced the opening of eight new routes from Bucharest, Iasi and Bacau airports, starting this summer.

Starting June 15, the airline will inaugurate the Bucharest-Munich route, with four flights a week. On June 16, it will launch the Iasi-Verona route, with three flights per week.

At the same time, Blue Air will launch six new routes from the Bacau airport, namely to Athens, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Larnaca, Oslo and Stuttgart. These routes are in addition to the nine other currently operated by Blue Air from the "George Enescu" International Airport in Bacau. Thus, starting June 15, 2020, passengers from Bacau will travel with Blue Air to 15 different destinations: Athens, Brussels, Birmingham, Bologna, Copenhagen, Dublin, Larnaca, Liverpool, London, Madrid, Milan, Oslo, Rome, Stuttgart and Turin.

It sadly looks like Blue Air have axed both of their routes from Birmingham as neither Bucharest or Bacău are bookable on the Blue Air website. Such a shame as I have used the OTP service a few times and it was very busy.

This sadly means that Blue Air no longer serve BHX, I hope that they return in the future.

3x weekly Bucharest back from 30th March according to Sean M on Twitter 🙂
Hopefully Bacau will follow? They have continued announcing new routes out of BCM, although I don’t know whether they have re-allocated an aircraft that was originally intended for BCM-BHX.

Cluj, Oradea and Timisoara all appear on the drop-down on the Blue Air website? Has this been the case for a while or something new? No sign of Bacau

Fingers crossed we see Blue Air tomorrow.

Their website now shows weekly on a Saturday throughout June going up to 3x weekly from July, obviously very much subject to change.

Bucharest now showing for winter, Tue and Sat with the Thu flight 1st Dec until 19th Jan.

Having both Ryanair and Wizz now on the route I had wondered if Blue Air may throw in the towel so hopefully it's still working for them.

With Wizz dropping Iasi I'd love to see Blue Air give Bacau another go but it might be a bit too much to ask at the moment.

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
