Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
So will 6 more routes need at least another based aircraft? Plus the 2x 733s being retired will presumably need to be replaced? To my mind it seems unlikely the remaining based aircraft can cover all of this.
Unless of course, some other routes have their frequency cut to accommodate the new routes which is quite likely if some are switched from a 300 to an 800.

Anyway, perhaps this discussion is veering away from Easyjet just as Easyjet are veering away from LBA.

Not forgetting 6 new Jet2 routes.

I realise we're on the easyJet thread, but just to answer these questions.... At the moment, the 2027 summer schedule sees some route reductions to allow for the 5x new routes.

Jet2 - 2026 > 2027 changes

New Routes
= +5x weekly
TIV
: 0>1
NBE: 0>1
HRG: 0>1
JTR: 0>1
PVK: 0>1

Route Increases = +1x weekly
PMI
: 24>25

Route Reductions = -5x weekly
ALC: 16>14
DLM: 7>6
KGS: 4>3
AGA: 2>1

So easyJet have announced CDG-SOU twice weekly from the end of October. Rumours of more to be announced. Words continue to fail me in all of this
Its like easyjet are just trying to take the p*** out of LBA by commencing all our lost routes from other airports, its been a bad year at LBA!

Well they have to fly the aircraft somewhere

Indeed but they also don't have a pax through put of 4.5m - in fact they are not even 25% of that. SOU sounds much more of a risk than LBA to me but I guess we are never going to know the real truth in all this
Well I guess the travel distance from CDG to SOU is less than half that to LBA so much cheaper to operate in terms of fuel and of course we don't know what deal SOU are giving them. Seems likely that following their runway extension they are offering subsidies to encourage airlines.
That said, some of our Easyjet routes appear to have gone to Aberdeen with considerably higher fuel costs but very little competition.

SOU do not have FR and LS operations.
No, but both are at Bournemouth just down the road, and both airports have basically the same catchment area.

As far as I can see no airline operates BOH-CDG so no competition from there, at least for now.

Yes out of LBA where they had a successful opperation ! 🤣
We would like to think that. Unfortunately the data, shared by LBA, shows that all routes except Belfast were underperforming in terms of passenger numbers, and profit. This was due to poor timings but we all know too that Easyjet made little attempt to advertise. Graphs showing LBA performance against that of other airports showed LBA close to the bottom. Of course other airports were mainly bases and there lies the problem. To operate equally with Jet2 and Ryanair, they need a base here and that isn't feasible unless LBA win the S73 application.

I think you must look to factors other than poor timings as they are/were operating typical second and third bank timings from LBA, one or two earlier and one very late arrival into BCN. Given that many of the seats would be taken by EZY Holidays, I doubt it would be a factor. Their departure is more about competition with Jet2 Holidays, though I would have thought there would be room for a second company on AGP, PMI and BCN.

Not strictly related to EZY, but I think we’ve lost out double here, as I believe the CDG route killed Ryanair’s route to BVA. It was never the strongest performer, but numbers certainly dipped after easyJet joined the fray, to the point where last September the loads were averaging around 30%. Now we have neither route

I can only report what LBA management said last week. They specifically mentioned poor timings. I am sure there were other factors and I actually highlighted some in my ACC report a week ago.

A few years back i used the ryanair BVA to LBA route, BVA is a decent airport with good ryanair conections, and reliable coach connections to paris as the airport is around 45/50mins away from the city, so ideal for a cheap break to paris but yes the easyjet cdg route may well of killed off the BVA route!

Having flown to Beauvais myself, it is such a dead slops airport to get through. Mind you that was in 1994 and a bloke had to come and open up the duty free shop every time there was a departure due. No doubt it has changed a lot since then but maybe Ryanair could give it a bash again

Wouldn't they have expected the airport to the lead in that?
Publicity did come from LBA at the outset with routes being advertised but it is a joint responsibility, not just the airport. Why should one partner do all the advertising in what is basically a joint venture? Jet2 do plenty of advertising and don't just leave it to their airport partners. It isn't that Easyjet don't do publicity. They do plenty, just not at LBA, which suggests to me there was never much commitment

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
