I don't think HS2 will effect BHX too much either way ,the NEC on the other hand could see a benefit of increased business users given the direct access by people mover that will be available.
As far as the new master plan I would think they must be in a bit of a holding position at present given the state of world presently although at busy times BHX currently is not great feels really cramped with lack of seating as ever more retail appears see the main pier.
When they do announce something I'd like nice and open area's with daylight and a outside outlook accross the airport while waiting for you flight. Meanwhile in reality we will get more retail "opportunities " including another bleeding Weatherspoons and endless coffee shops. 😃
