Some absolute morons on that saveDSA Facebook group
Perhaps we should understand better why they act in this way - or maybe we already do. Some are die-hard socialists who believe politically in the fact that the Council are 'buying' jobs, the majority simply want to fly locally - which is fair enough although somewhat selfish in these circumstances. They likely have no idea of what it is actually going to cost them and their neighbours. Then of course you have the Facebook page itself which has probably moderated tone of late but the majority of posts/articles are still only positive - or if not are accompanied by a 'take down' from the administrator so the folk without any aviation knowledge are and have been effectively brainwashed. Having said that it is not perhaps the job of the administration to be more balanced when CDG are pumping out the stuff they do but there will be weeping and wailing and nashing of teeth if the end result is not what they have been encouraged to believe it will be.
Of course there are a few who comment vociferously with 'anti' sentiment which stirs the pot!!!
I believe the TUI Summer 2028 programme comes out around 15th of this month (?) - if there is no availability from DSA (which I an certain there will not be) the blue touch paper will have been lit so stand well clear!!!!

Some good points raised there re Doncaster but in the interest of getting the thread back on track, has there been any LBA related rumours of late? Or, does anyone wish to speculate what routes or airlines might potentially be looking to come to Leeds in the near future.

I would speculate that given the termination of Easyjet's ops to CDG, there is a golden opportunity for Air France / Hop to take on the route with a daily A220 (or similar). Jet2 just isn't enough. KLM are doing well and they are basically one with Air France. The AENA ownership and terminal improvements could make it more likely than in the past.

A Spanish carrier is also an obvious possibility, with Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid and Seville all good options.

As this is Leeds, it probably wont happen but the recent changes surely improve the chances going forward.

Air France would be a great option especially for onward connections. Maybe a bit of a curveball but Transavia to Orly wouldn't be too bad either. I wonder if Ryanair might look to reinstate Beauvais as well.

A few new realistic services id like to see include..
Ryanair reintroduce beauvais with easyjet off the CDG route, plus a few new destinations to add to the 4 new destinations added yesterday, valencia would be a nice addition.
KLM to use their mainline B737-700s
Aer lingus to upgrade to A320s on the Dublin route(high hope) and an increase on the aer lingus belfast route.
But the no1 airline id like to see something from is Wizz air, im aware of their situation at present but i do feel wizz and LBA could pull out something special! Views?

Really need interline agreements so they can offer through ticketing. Although part of AF/KL not sure if they do.

Whilst the Middle East conflict continues airlines are going to stuggle due to the high oil prices. I can't see anything exciting happening until that's well and truly over.

In addition, WizzAir is slowly losing interest in UK. Their core VFR routes to Poland from UK are seeing decreasing demand as Poles head home for good. Only Romania still has adequate demand. The airline has increasing financial problems and so is chasing better profits elsewhere. And Wizzair UK is a shadow of its former self, in retreat rather than expansion.

And yet Ryanair go from strength to strength on their several LBA Polish routes. So the demand is there, just probably insufficient to justify two carriers, and so far, Ryanair seem to win the battle here on those routes where they go head to head with Wizz.

I just hope that the Cluj Napoca and Bucharest routes remain successful. I must admit that after it's winter break, I was somewhat surprised that Warsaw came back for summer, particularly with Ryanair /Buzz flying that route too.

Be nice to see the following/more a wish list.
Hop/AF (CDG)
Eurowings/Lufthansa (a German route!)
Aer Lingus upgrade to an A320 on Dublin
Vueling to return
BA on LHR (probably not going to happen)
A Turkish carrier to Istanbul

possibly a route to the Middle East/Pakistan

Unfortunately don’t see any of these happening anytime soon.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
