CAA Provisional Statistics Update

Looking at the calendar year to date. Cardiff has seen 755,881 passengers in 8 months.
Cardiff will need to see another 345,000 passengers use the airport in 2026 to get to the 1.1 million passengers mark.
Can see further growth in September and October, but it will be a challenge in November and December with Vueling missing. 1.1m will be a stretch. 1.075 to 1.090m somehow feels more likely. More than happy to be wrong of course...

Roughly between Alicante and Malaga in November and December Vueling accounted for around 8500 passengers. Looking at the growth on Alicante last November and December it was 51% and 47%. So rough guess Vueling accounted for 50% of the passengers. I also think some of TUI ski routes will have a couple of less flights but Fuerteventura will have 6 extra flights compared to last year as it continues into the winter.
I personally would be surprised if 1.1 million was achieved tbh.

It won’t move the numbers substantially but we may see a few charters for the boxing in december?

KLM Winter 2026-27
The good news is that Cardiff has the E295 scheduled in December on Tuesdays and Thursdays morning departure, pretty sure it's the first time the aircraft has been scheduled to operate to Cardiff.

In first week of November Cardiff will see 3 E190 departures and 11 E175 departures. For the rest of November Cardiff will be all E175.
In December up until the 28th December Cardiff will see 7 E175 departures (the evening departure), 5 E190s and on Tuesdays and Thursdays the schedule shows E295.
From the 4/1/27 until 22/2/27 Cardiff will see 9 E175 departures and 5 E190 (weekday evening departure) from then through March the schedule is 14 weekly E175 departures.
They are adding extra capacity in December.

It will attract a lot of international support so id be very surprised if they dont. They could put on the evening arrival and night stop and take people back at 6am for anyone that wanted a quick stop over.
Would be great to see the night stop back but I don't see it happening.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
