Has there ever been a recent scenario where Ryanair setup base with 1 aircraft? I honestly think they’re probably waiting for some sort of cash incentive to be put on the table.
I’m not sure the spat with Bristol would be enough to put them off launching one new route. It’s something they could pull after one season if they wanted.
We’ll just have to wait and see if they announce something. On the plus side, because they have added new routes to Exeter and Norwich...
I could see a 4 weekly route working. Mainly scheduled around weekend travel and eventually building up to a daily service. The trouble is having UK registered aircraft available. There’s also the issue that the figures from Loganair weren’t great, so you’d hope they would look further back as...
Ryanair have added quite a few double daily dates to Dublin throughout the winter. They may well extend on that into the summer.
I can certainly see them increasing Alicante if Vueling don’t return. 5 weekly perhaps?
As for new routes, it’s been a few years so I’m anticipating something, but I...
I saw this shared on Jerry’s Twitter but thought I’d share here. There will be two flights to Rome Fiumicino on March the 12th and 14th 2027. It’s for the 6 Nations but that would be a good summer seasonal route to get.
Also, Shannon appears on the website destination list but no flights loaded...
With fuel costs rising they’ll certainly need full planes. They’re effectively competing against EasyJet Holidays and Jet2. Both are seen as the “cheaper option”. The irony is they’re not always cheaper and operate the same demand based pricing TUI do. It’ll be interesting to see if TUI scale...
Bristol surprised me the most. Alicante down to 3 weekly from what’s normally at least daily. I think it just shows how severe the situation is, and that Cardiff has come out of this in an alright position.
The Saturday looks to be dropped for the first 2 weeks of December too.
Although it’s a blow, Ryanair have been good at adding additional flights for the peak holiday periods.
Looks like EXT - AGP, EXT - ALC, BRS - AGP, BRS - ALC suffers too. I don’t think Cardiff has come off too bad. Touch...
I would say the writing has been on the wall for a while and they’ve certainly scaled back operations slowly since Covid.
Will they be back in the summer? Possibly, but I’m sure they’ll be looking for a cash incentive. If that were the case a return of BCN flights should be a priority. Of...
I hope not. But you’re likely right about them needing a financial incentive to run the EDI-CWL. It then begs the question of if it’s a wise choice if they are in financial trouble.
Rumours are floating around (posted by SeanM) that Loganair may be closing their base at SOU. Flights to Manchester look to be ceasing at the end of August. It does make you wonder if this could be an opening on getting flights to EDI back at Cardiff.
There’s a lot of chat online about Vueling dropping Alicante (and Malaga) at least for the winter. I’ve seen for a week that both routes are off sale after October, but it doesn’t seem like existing bookings have been cancelled. I’m curious what they’re actually doing and whether they have...
