"Croseo"? That would be embarrassing ... :)

Cardiff: Airport 1 Million Passenger Milestone

One good thing about that is that it's not that long ago - 7 years since the previous peak. I reckon there will be quite a few people crawling through the Brynglas tunnels (inter alia) on their way to Bristol who will be reminded (again) how much easier it was to get to CWL. If CWL took (back)...

Cardiff: General Airport Discussion & Updates

Anybody who does Facebook might like to check out "Cardiff Airport (CWL - EGFF)" www.facebook.com/***406115439503751 (EDIT: Don't know why this isn't showing as a URL?) A couple of users, "WelshAvgeek" and "Urfriendlygeek" put up really good photos quite regularly. Of course @CAN&I also...

Any update on this? Have the Court of Appeal decided whether or not to allow BRS to submit a further appeal?

BS, BS, & BS. "(Nijkamp 2002), (Teslenko-Kucherenko 2019), (Schneider 2025)" You know full well I haven't got access to these papers. For all I know, they could be making assumptions that are out of date, fundamentally flawed, based on "creative accounting" / irrelevant data (e.g. data gathered...

Cardiff: General Airport Discussion & Updates

Weak catchment is due to geography. There is sea to the South, hills to the North with weak transport links to mid-Wales (easier to reach BHX), BRS catchment to the East, and to the West there is a fairly low population area (at least when you go beyond Llanelli) and eventually more sea...

    Remembering 11th September

A few thoughts on what is today, twenty-five years after the 11th September attacks. My family were in Izmir, in Turkey. We had been to the UK in the Summer and had returned to Turkey. I was working at IYTE (University) but it was still "vacation" as the term didn't start until October, so we...

Cardiff: WestJet Transatlantic News & Discussions

Peel? I think you need to get back to the DSA thread. It's a facility - to develop long term routes. Not necessarily for long-term subsidies. Which is why BRS are flogging a dead horse.

Cardiff: WestJet Transatlantic News & Discussions

There is no evidence for that whatsoever.

And indeed announced on this very thread (post number 3714 on p.186) ... It was 6 months before I joined. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it 😁

    Random Stuff!!

Where in the airport would they hold it? Surely not airside - it would be a security nightmare! I expect they would use one of the car parks .... ?

Cardiff: General Airport Discussion & Updates

Well I spent nearly an hour trawling the CAA site, but couldn't find even a recommendation for the time between resurfacing runways. Obviously they say the airport ("aerodrome") is responsible for ensuring that the runway is in a usable state. I did find this though, for anybody who is...

Cardiff: General Airport Discussion & Updates

I suppose we should be thankful that no aircraft were damaged whilst taking off/landing. I wonder if the CAA have a "fit and proper person" test for airport operators .... ?

Domestic Air Travel and the Case for its Revival in the United Kingdom

To answer my own question, apparently it's two flight crew these days https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_officer_(aviation)

Domestic Air Travel and the Case for its Revival in the United Kingdom

Yeah. Certainly in the UK, we have quite a few hops between Islands in Scotland - some are very short, but worthwhile because the flights are much quicker than sailing and driving on often narrow and bendy roads. Similarly, maybe it would be viable to do a short hop across the Bristol Channel...
