Leeds Bradford: Airport Application To Amend Night Flying Quota Methodology

Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
It might well be so, but the airport did, I believe, encourage people to add their own reasons for support as a seperate paragraph. Even if treated as a petition, it demonstrates a level of support that should not be ignored.

Not sure if things have changed since 1994 but for 24H we used a standardised proforma stating support, with name, address and signature and they were counted as seperate letters of support with each being responded to. LBA have done similar this time but via the internet instead of paper.

The main thing is demonstrating support. If we have nearly 200 doing so one way, in their own words. and thousands via a 'petition' it has to be taken into account when considering the outcome. However anyone who has added their own wording must (or should) be treated as an individual response.

Worth a try. Thank you. However, the article should be about LBA, it's plans, what changes they would bring and why rhey are important, not about the Support Group and that should be emphasized. We shouldn't be getting drawn into discussing who the Support Group are other than confirming we have no connection with LBA and what we stand for.

In the past we descibed the group as

'A group of like minded business people and local residents, who understand the benefits to the region of a successful airport, support it's development, and who are tired of a noisy minority who constantly seek to block it's development to the detriment of the entire region'. Or words to that effect.

However, no doubt others will have a view on this.
Did anyone pass my details to the press/media as no one has contacted me?

It's a bit late for that now. It's a shame the airport didnt put up some signage, almost all people up there would give their support.
Funny thing is lbayorkie i put that comment up as a joke but upon reflection it actually would of been a real good idea what the airport team could of done, a few laptops and tablets where the public could of left their support comments plus a bit of advertising of the airlines and routes the airport has left! but like everything with LBA too late now!

80 objections logged today, 22/09. Is it just me or does that seem suspiciously high? Is AI being used by the various protest groups to generate these objections I wonder?
Just tried ChatGPT, it produced an objection letter for me in seconds and I’m sure anyone with better knowledge of AI than me could produce dozens of “own words” objections.
I would just add that my submission of support was all my own words!

Presumably the council have still not loaded the support on to the portal?

It seems to deal mainly with ensuring that the proposed property noise reduction schemes (double glazing, air conditioning) are effective in the real world, that effectiveness is monitored and that the measures target all appropriate properties affected by aircraft noise.
Concerns are also mentioned regarding increased road traffic at night to and from the airport as night flights increase leading to more road traffic accidents and it is suggested public transport availability at night is looked into.(Train anyone? Over to you Ms. Brabin).
Finally there’s a bit about air pollution and that more extensive monitoring of a wider range of pollutants is needed to see if the use of newer, less polluting aircraft leads to a decrease in pollution as predicted by LBA.

Further to the above graphics, please see the attached, received today from LBA.

Hi Heather

Hope you’re keeping well. I was sorry to miss yesterday’s ACC.

We’ve just launched an advocacy campaign for supporter of the airport to share on their personal social media channels.

Would you be happy sharing with the supporter’s group please?

Kind regards,

Joss

LCC are doing their best to allow G***A time to catch up on LBA support, as inexplicably, they have again extended the consultation period to the 15th October. Looking in the bright side, thats another 3 weeks to gather more support, so important we keep pushing this.

Received today from LBA.

Dear ACC Member

Thank you for those who could attend the meeting on Wednesday.

As a follow up, please find PDF versions of the presentations made for the Ground Mount Solar Farm and the S73 Application. I would be grateful if you could discuss these with your respective members & councillors.

In respect of the S73 Application, a number of members confirmed they were drafting responses to the consultation which has now been extended to 15th October by LCC. I’ve responded to a number of members individually, but I would urge all councillors and members to read the information submitted with the application on LCC’s planning portal, in particular the Noise Assessment Report (attached), as this will answer many of the question members have and dispel many of the myths about the application that have been put forward on social media by those opposed to the application. Additionally, the animation that we referenced at the ACC meeting explains very clearly what we are looking to achieve with the application - https://supportlba.co.uk/

As the planning application documents are very detailed in nature, I am happy to speak with any member who needs to understand them fully before they commit to writing a response to LCC. We feel it is important any responses to the S73 consultation process are based upon factual evidence contained in the application documents, and not on any misunderstandings derived from social media content or misinformation from those opposed to the application.

The amount of support the application has from the public, businesses and passengers who use the airport is significant, into the 1,000’s, and certainly far greater than the planning portal is showing due to the way LCC are collating the letters of support.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
