Thanks @pilot_737
Going back to B738s and potential withdrawal, info on the Dff suggests G-GDFD on age grounds and G-DRTJ/P because their leases are not being renewed. Ironically DRTP is apparently one of the younger 2nd hand examples too

If I remember correctly FD has over 80,000 hours on the clock! I can’t remember the DRT ones, but leases are ending soon.
In comparison to FD, one of the 300s I flew yesterday had 59,500 hours!!

10 year old 737 800 G-JZHJ, which was bought new and delivered to LBA in 2016, is now withdrawn from revenue service and currently at MAN, undergoing maintenance, and interior reconfiguration to provide corporate transport. This was announced some months ago, with Jet2 gatecrashing the football club and executive charter market.

I am slightly surprised they picked a relatively new airframe but if they intend operating in this market long term, they won"t want to reconfigure another one a few years down the line. HJ could be performing this role for the next 15-20 years.

It’s a good job they picked a newer one, for reliability issues!
It is to be based at LPL and I believe Liverpool FC and Newcastle United are the main customers so far. Rumour that there will be 3 VIP jets in operation next winter. So if they’ve already bought in some extra seats I’d assume they can quickly put them into another aircraft should HJ be tech.

If it was for LUFC should have given them GDFO 😂😂😂😂

This is the post you've all been looking forward to!
I've just done some checks on the Jet2 website for the last dates for which seats are bookable on the Boeing 737-300 fleet based at Leeds/Bradford Airport before they are finally all retired by late 2027.

The last day of normal operations looks to be on Monday, November 1st 2027 with up to 6x rotations been operated to Palma, Paris CDG, Budapest, Rome, Krakow & Barcelona.

The end, Well it looks like the last-ever Jet2 Boeing 737-300 operated flight will be on the next day. Tuesday, November 2nd 2027 with an Alicante rotation.

Monday, November 1st 2027
LS257 = LBA 06:45 - PMI 10:30 / LS258 = PMI 11:20 - LBA 13:10

LS231 = LBA 07:40 - BCN 11:15 /LS232 – BCN 12:00 -LBA 13:45
LS267 = LBA 14:45 - CDG 17:15 /LS268 = CDG 18:15 - LBA 18:45
LS431 = LBA 14:50 - BUD 18:30 /LS432 = BUD 19:15 - LBA 21:05
LS295 = LBA 15:10 - KRK 18:45 /LS296 = KRK 19:35 - LBA 21:15

Tuesday, November 2nd 2027

And once they’ve gone we’ll all be bemoaning their demise after slagging them off for their increasing unreliability!
Course we will! It's human nature. I love, love, love seeing a classic 733 when I'm up at the airport, and I'm thinking of developing plans to give them one more ride next summer. However their unreliability is starting to become an issue even in my optimistic eyes. Ironically GDFL and GDFN, the ones going this winter, are some of the better behaved ones. In an ideal world I'd rid GDFM and GDFO first, but I know full well it's more complicated than that in the real world

Not LBA related so just for information. Jet2 have axed the twice weekly Manchester to La Palma route from 30 October, and have cancelled the start of Stansted to La Palma too. 'Unavoidable operational reasons' was the only explanation given. So La Palma no longer features on the Jet2 destination list.

Seems they were over optimistic and the travelling public didnt share their views of La Palma.....at this time...

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
