Use this prefix for new threads for Cardiff Airport
Even so, those with superior knowledge of these things will undoubtably claim 87% or even 92.2% as "pathetic" by whatever countermeasure they choose LOL.

Wow!
True 😆
Obviously we don't know the yields people will scream subsidy but WestJet must be happy to continue it for 2027.

LOL - how could we forget - its all about the yields!!!

Honestly, its not funny how many commentators remain convinced subsidies are at play when 1) both CWL and the WG have stated on public record that they are not and 2) the existing funding package for CWL specifically forbids direct monetary payments to airlines!!!

Then there are those who cannot quite understand the difference between a "subsidy" and the direct and indirect layers of negotiation and support involved with any commercial deal between an airline and an airport.

The YYZ-CWL service could have some of the best LFs and yields in the business yet some would still claim it wasn't real because of flippin' "subsidies"!!!

I think because Cardiff is government owned people just see whatever they do to attract airlines as subsidy even if it's pretty standard operating for other airports. There's this idea Cardiff wouldn't do such deals if it wasn't government owned.

It would be interesting to know where YYZ was on the list in terms of most popular unserved destinations (or served 1 stop). It must of been up there for west jet to think there was a market.

Remember as well that WestJet would've been potentially looking for new destinations as well. It's likely that there was a decent amount of traffic to and from Wales as a base but they'll want to attract new passengers as well.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
