Let’s leave it there please folks.
More seriously, there are many pressures on AI right now.
Poor inflight service on their old fleet that has been serving the BHX route, fuel prices shooting up, Pakistan airspace closed.
I would say that the reason has less to do with terminal infrastructure and more to do with the potential to grab onward connection traffic at the airport. For instance, the arrival slots for regional airlines like Loganair and Aurigny at airports like MAN and BHX are conveniently timed for...
Other interesting points:
- Options being explored to convert the Elmdon building into a hotel
- New car parking on the elmdon side to enable eventual expansion of the terminal into existing car parks
- most exciting of all, the fuel farm is to be moved to the Elmdon side for the same reason...
For good or bad reasons?
Are there still gaps in the based schedule? WRO-BHX is not replacing either of those, the timings show it’s on a WRO based plane.
Air Canada are revising their S27 schedule.
Instead of a daily A321, the service will be a 3 weekly 787-9 going 4 weekly from July.

Going west, i would not be surprised as there is demonstrated fall in demand across the board on the UK-US.
Going east, the loss of Saudia and PIA stand out, but i think it is hard to make a judgement when we have also had Pegasus and extra Turkish flights around the same time.
As an aside -...
Just noticed that TIV is on the same days as jet2 (Mon/Thu). i notice a lot of our less frequently served routes have two airlines flying on the same days and sometimes even departing within a couple of hours of each other.
I’d have thought that’s not ideal but I suppose that if they didn’t...
A Hawk jet has crashed while training. Both pilots ejected thankfully!
I often see Hawk jets on my holidays in north wales. It may seem like a very sparsely populated area but there are a lot of campsites and farms. Its fortunate that no one on the ground was hurt...

To be honest I have no way of knowing if the extra cargo space is being used to the maximum, but the 77W can uplift 20-25 tonnes of hold cargo per flight, which is equivalent to a daily 737 freighter service.
Theres no need to bring people’s identities into it, I think we are all perfectly capable of debating the merits of an airline’s operations without questioning such things.
This is absolutely true, however as others have pointed out, passenger revenue is not the only factor affecting the route.
The 77W coming onto the route represents a massive increase in cargo capacity (23 tonnes) - which if the figures from @tompo are correct could be equivalent to the revenue...
Today I saw Cardiff Airport advertising the westjet service on instagram. The ad was mentioning, as an advantage, that you can get through security in 10 minutes or less.
I don’t have plans to travel to Canada myself but I thought it was smart advertising because the length of the security...
