Manchester: Air Canada News & Flight Discussion

Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
I do think for a 'low cost' operation the flights are f**king expensive, but, they seem to fill the flights at those prices. Air Transat seem to be about £400.

Yes, not cheap.

Surprised it's not AC mainline, but we have not expected daily. Perhaps a drop in frequency can be supported over the winter?

YVR I presume will be Rouge.

LGW-YVR 3 weekly was at the expense of 3 weekly LGW-YYZ, so LGW remains 7 weekly overall. Aircraft will run YYZ-LGW-YVR-LGW and so on.

It's looking less likely. There may be a few early casualties as the economy shrinks.
So MAN-YVR and BHX-YYZ are looking unlikely but is a mooted longer season still on the cards for MAN-YYZ?

If there are less UK visitors to the US next year as suggested elsewhere (and there may be various reasons for that if it does happen, not just the election result), it is conceivable some folk might turn their attention to Canada instead, which has some interesting cities and beautiful scenery.

When you say 'a few early casualties', did you have anything specific in mind for MAN?

I really did hope that MAN-YVR would happen, however with YYZ going up to daily, they would have to use two Rouge 763s on the MAN sectors, whilst they only use 1 on the DUB/LGW sectors.

Some chatter from dried fruit.

Per Phil160: Air Canada are in talks about more flights, and YYZ is supposedly year round...

The Air Canada Okey Kokey continues, after putting daily flights on sale for Aug/Sep, it's now back down to 5 weekly in all booking engines with no flights Thu/Sun ex-MAN.

Seems even AC don't quite know what to do with MAN just yet.

Hmm - are there still a number of rounds of announcements to come from AC for S17?

YYZ-MAN is now bookable again on Wednesdays, but is not bookable for Thursday's MAN-YYZ.

Whether this means the aircraft is going back to Vancouver on Thursdays (and possibly Sunday's) on a YYz-MAN-YVR-MAN-YYZ pattern, I'm not sure.

I hope this is the case. Is the extended season still on?

The YYZ-MAN-YVR-MAN-YYZ pattern would not completely explain the scheduling of the missing Thursday MAN-YYZ unless AC intend to run YVR-MAN on other patterns...

MAN-YYZ from what I can see is now 4 weekly with Thur/Sat/Sun blocked. This could look promising for YVR flights considering that this is a similar thing that's happened to LGW.

Currently, YYZ-MAN is bookable every day barring Sat (Sun arrival into MAN).

MAN-YYZ isn't bookable on Thu or Sun.

As a general point, it looks like AC are continuing to shuffle the pack for S17.

Air Canada changing its timings next summer.

Old times:

AC1930 YYZ 2310 MAN 1100
AC1931 MAN 1245 YYZ 1530

New times:

AC1930 YYZ 2045 MAN 0835
AC1931 MAN 1005 YYZ 1245

Still bookable as 5 weekly but Amadeus is also showing it as 4 weekly with no flights on Mon/Wed/Sat ex-YYZ, so, with the time change, are AC doing a LGW and having 4 weekly YYZ and 3 weekly YVR?

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
