The airport is seeking permission for another terminal to handle long-haul services
www.mylondon.news
Ambitious or realistic? The airport seems to do well but is long haul really realistic especially if you consider it only has a relatively short runway.
I think the way the airport will view this is they have a critical mass which enables flights further afield, They do still have the limitations of the runway itself which isn't exactly the longest in the world. I think what they're suggesting is achievable though with flights with a similar range to places such as Dubai, New York and Cancun. They seem to indicate terminal capacity as the overriding constraint. [HASH=1090]#LTNLongHaul[/HASH]
Good news for Luton as the Levelling Up Minister approves a while raft if changes including a terminal extension, extended and new taxiways, and a dual carriageway access road subject to revised noise contouring and, if the expected increase in new generation quieter aircraft' doesn't materialise, a suggestion passenger numbers should be limited until it does.
I would post the report but apparently I'm at my limit, so can't. It's on Google News.
Looking at posts on another forum, it seems that the above mentioned works have been completed already, and the application is for an increase in the passenger limit to 19mppa. The airport was required to have completed the infrastructure works before applying to raise the limit.

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
