I cannot get excited about any propeller aircraft since the demise of the Viscount. That aircraft sung to us in a way only jets could.
Totally agree. The shrill whine of a RR Dart (or better, four of them) had a magic to it. Many of today's propliners have a very 'dry' sound to them.

I think, perhaps, when a jetliner approaches in the descent phase, those engine noises remind me of the Vickers Viscount. It is clearly an acoustic effect within the atmosphere but the mind immediately recalls the days when the Viscount was dominant with British , at BHX.

I think you must have me confused with another member of this forum. My knowledge of cargo loads amounts to zero I'm afraid. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
