Manchester: easyJet Route News & Base Updates

Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
So, before any capacity increases are loaded, here is the Easyjet picture for S18 *so far*

Based aircraft: 13 (+1 on S17)
Routes: 47 (51 overall as LYS/TRN/AGA/LPA are winter only)
Number of flights per week: 336
No new routes (yet). No routes dropped.

Busiest route: Amsterdam (21 weekly)
Quietest route: Bastia (1 weekly).

Just to clarify User, I assume that is 336 departures a week rather than sectors i.e. 168 departures. 336 means would mean an average of 48 per day.

I appreciate it will be reported on here when there is anything more definite about Easyjet's plans for s18 and on Terminal usage. But is there any further suggestion / indication of whether they are still keen to base 3 more a/c
or how negotiations are progressing?

It's progressing but likely to be November at the earliest before we hear anything.

Easyjet also look to be changing handling agents ex-MAN so a lot going on.

Sofia is 5 weekly this winter (From late Dec).

I don't remember it being that high last winter? Or possibly memory fading!

I thought it had been 3 x weekly previously.
But if my memory is fading, at least I've got age as an excuse!😴

I gather the planned expansion pre-Monarch is due to be announced imminently. The additional expansion plans actions post Monarch collapse is due to be announced at a later date.

New 2 weekly Genoa announced starting in July. However, this is not the only expansion for next summer, so keep your eyes peeled for further info in the new year.

Kavala seems to be a new route for this winter that started at very short notice.

It was originally supposed to be a replacement for Thessaloniki whilst their runway was refurbished.

However, that work will be complete in January and indeed bookings are being taken on SKG from mid January. Despite this, Kavala continues until early March, meaning it’s become a route in its own right by the looks of it.

Kavala will run Mon/Fri, Thessaloniki also Mon/Fri.

This was showing in the app before but has since disappeared again:

U21975 MAN 0705 NCE 1020
U21976 NCE 1055 MAN 1215

Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri/Sun

Seemed to start in April. The flight had different times on Wed and Sun but didn’t get to jot them down before they disappeared again.

Starting with a summer 2017 figure of 12 based aircraft, we are now approaching the time when this summer's numbers will be known.

We heard from our old friend User001 that easyJet were looking at upping the based units to between 18-20 with a split terminal operation.

The latest news is that expansion is definitely on the cards, although we are now looking at, i understand, nearer to 14-15 units. That is still a considerable increase however it will be a while before definite figures are known - they appear to be trying to decide how numbers are split between T1 and T2.

All I can say is "watch this space.

With Easyjet potentially basing 17 to 18 aircraft at MAN for summer 18 i'm just curious as to with their expansion in Germany and them trying to fill the gaps from Monarch at LTN and LGW and there already planned expansion at other airports around Europe, does anyone know where they will get the actual aircraft from? Will they be delaying aircraft going back? Pulling aircraft deliveries forward? Or wet leasing from other airlines?

A poster on another forum says a press release about Easyjet will be released on the 2nd of February regarding the basing of additional aircraft. There is speculation that Manchester could have up to 18 based aircraft this summer.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
