New routes from Porto to Exeter and Bournemouth and Malaga to Norwich for S27. What does Cardiff have to do to catch a break from Ryanair? It has to be the lingering uncertainty of the ongoing legal action.
I’m not sure the spat with Bristol would be enough to put them off launching one new route. It’s something they could pull after one season if they wanted.

We’ll just have to wait and see if they announce something. On the plus side, because they have added new routes to Exeter and Norwich, there’s a good chance Cardiff will see something announced before the year is out. Last year neither of them had anything new (along with Cardiff).

I did find this article on Ryanair, and I might be reading too much into it, but the headline states “first 29 new routes”. That implies they have another round coming soon.

It's a bit disappointing that Cardiff isn't on this list but still plenty of time for new routes, extra frequency to added to the current routes like Alicante. Hopefully as well maybe Cork or Rome might become permanent as well.

I doubt very much its any sort of legal action. I suspect they've just had a better deal, which is kind of ironic considering everyone states Cardiff has some sort of advantage. There's still plenty of time for more frequency to be added to current routes as well as new routes hell even a base announcement.

I would be very surprised if there wasn't more to be announced at a later date.

One must ask what are we doing wrong with Ryanair at Cardiff and for Exeter to get Porto - (a niche route in my opinion) is a surprise and annoying.

We can’t even get Palma, Barcelona & Malta back - (latter 2 of which used to operate pre-Covid at Cardiff.

Surely something is going on with CWL & Ryan HQ.

For examples:
- the new self service machines in a non-base airport.

Porto was launched from Bournemouth as well who has the same owner as Exeter so there may well be some sort of deal there. Aviation is competitive and there's always a strong chance Cardiff will miss out to other airports. There's still plenty of time. With PMI there is a lot of competition with TUI and Ryanair may just not be expanding at those airports. Fingers crossed at the minimum we'll see an increase in frequency on Alicante and Malaga and it would be nice if Cork or Rome or both were continued into the summer.

Did Ryanair fly to Barcelona pre covid? I just about remember malta now you mention it.

bmibaby flying to secondary spanish cities Murcia and Almeria seems like a different world now.

Promising news in the press release of a future new wave of routes in the near future.

I hope they launch them sooner rather than later given the uncertain economic climate and cost of living.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
