Finnair are upgrading the morning AY934/935 flight to the A319 from 1st November. It's confirmed and bookable,e on Thursdays in the winter period for now, other days will follow in the next few weeks.

Morning Finnair is now confirmed and bookable as daily A319 from 27th March.

Given Finnairs main draw is the eastern connections (Japan and China specifically), interesting they are upgrading capacity in the face of Hainan, Cathay, Oman Air, extra Qatar and the inevitable increase from Emirates.

Finnair will upgrade the evening flight to A319 for most of August,.

Special mention for 15th which sees A321 operate. I think there has only been one visit of the A321 in all the time Finnair have served MAN.

How many daily flights does Finnair do to MAN?

It's 2 daily. At one time it was 3 daily Monday to Friday, 2 daily at the weekend.

2 daily into Manchester, morning and evening flight.

Morning flight becomes permanent A319 in March, but has ad-hoc upgrades until then.

Do they codeshare with Flybe?

They used to, but they don't anymore. They codeshare with BA/AA and IB.

Popular! Guessing they have a lot of flights to the Far East?

Popular! Guessing they have a lot of flights to the Far East?

China: Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xi'an
Hong Kong: Hong Kong
India: Delhi
Japan: Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo
Singapore: Singapore
South Korea: Seoul
Thailand: Bangkok

Not all the services are daily but you can see how you could avoid LHR if going in that direction

I think it stops end of year

That's a pity.

Finnair to the Far East are advertised as the quickest transit routes to Japan and China. Despite CX/HU, they still do a good trade.

If Manchester ever got a route to Tokyo however, then I would predict that Finnair would be worst hit. Apparently there are some flights from Manchester where every single passenger then heads on to a Japanese destination, that's some feat!

Just out of interest wouldn't AY be better off operating from T3 at MAN as they codeshare with flybe and their OW partners BA/AA/IB go from here?

This could be the same for EI as they are part of IAG and there is a specific entrance for flights from Ireland in t3?

Ermm ... have you noticed the extreme stand congestion at T3? The problem is persuading carriers to move out of there, not trying to squeeze new names in.

I know it is extremely crowded but couldn't they move Ryanair and Adria (al though that wouldn't make much difference) to T1 as Adria's *A counterparts are there and move AF/KL to T2 so they are with skyteam partners DL and SV.

Just a thought but obviously AF codeshare with BE.

I dont know what the attraction is for AA other than BA being there. For passengers having to arrive hours before their flight for a long haul route, having next to nothing to do in the terminal and volumes of three widebodies a day in a terminal only really suited to domestic and short haul is ridiculous.

I would say that most of the full service carriers would move over to the expanded T2 as it starts to come on line. When all is said and done I expect T3 to be predominately loco.

Ryanair won't move if only for the basic reason of 25 minute turnrounds are more achievable at T3 given it's proximity to the runways.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
