Random Stuff!!

Not disputing it's need, just the so called benefit to Wales that rules out a Barnett consequence that Scotland and Northern Ireland get that could be invested in Wales own rail network.

I have paid for crossrail and so have you. We don't live in London. What's your point? You only pay for stuff that affects your own street? How parochial.

Perhaps Wales shouldn't pay, but if anyone in Wales ever uses HS2 they pay a £5 premium per ticket in future? How does that sound?

It's about getting investment in the area you live in. Crossrail HS2 etc aren't much use to someone who commutes from Carmarthen to Swansea or Bangor to Wrexham or Merthyr to Cardiff but hey if you're happy with London or Manchester or elsewhere getting good transport links and not where you live I guess that's your perogative.

Fine, so in your independent Wales if there is investment in rail which only benefits north Wales, it is legitimate that no one in south Wales pays?

I think we should all have good transport links. I do not believe we then only pay for stuff which affects you personally.

Wales’ first freeport to open next year after Welsh and UK governments come to deal

With the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth, it now means the position of the Prince of Wales is now vacant so only time will tell if King Charles appoints his son as Prince of Wales and whether there will be an investiture and where it will be as part of that appointment.

We do not need another Prince of Wales. It is a sham title. RIP Queen Elizabeth but now is the time to wind the Monarchy down. No more Kings and Queens.

The title of Prince of Wales doesn't make sense for modern Wales, as for the institution of the monarchy itself i doubt Charles will be the last monarch but i do personally wonder if it'll be modernised and slimmed down in the future.

Not surprised by it Prince William and Princess Catherine have been granted the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales by King Charles III. Will be interesting to see if their is an investiture.

King Charles will visit Wales for the first time as King on Friday 16th September. Interestingly that is also the 618th anniversary of the crowning of the last native Prince of Wales Owain Glyndwr.

The First Minister of Wales has been in Ireland the last couple of days and has made some interesting comments about Welsh independence and the UK, in particular about his own views and how he sees the UK for Wales, it's insurance policy as he put it.

Only Wales will have a person who holds the title of it's leader and is not supporting them in such a big competition and instead is supporting one of their group rivals! Lol

Spent the weekend in Cardiff, took a walk on the Taff trail Saturday morning as we were staying in a holiday cabin by Taffs Well right next too the trail, then went too watch Wales v Australia in the afternoon and nearly missed the kick off because of traffic! Then visited relatives and Caerphilly Castle! Forgot how amazing that castle is and the history on the doorstep in Wales. To be honest was quite weird being a tourist in a place that i grew up in and lived for over 40 years. Unfortunately it'll be a while now until i return, next trip i've got booked is in the north in Caernarvon for St David's day. Hopefully i should have a new proper camera by then!

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
