Manchester: Royal Air Maroc Route News & Schedule Updates

Royal Air Maroc Inaugural Flight
Great to see a destination that isn't served from around the UK other than London and a great new airline on the arrival boards 😉

16:00 AT818 Casablanca (CMN) Royal Air Maroc 73G Scheduled

Just south of the Isle of Wight as I write, estimating MAN 10 minutes late.

Boeing 737-800 operated the Thursday flight, hope this is reflective of loads!

Royal Air Maroc is now bookable year round, with flights during the winter season and also already appearing bookable for the next summer season.

Previously flights were not bookable after 26th October. Great news.

This is superb news as I was getting quite worried this was going to be a seasonal connection. Perhaps encouraged by the start of the route, as the LHR route was already bookable into W17?

From the Manchester Airport Facebook page:
'Direct flights to Casablanca from Manchester Airport have officially launched with Royal Air Maroc

✈️ We can’t wait to jump onboard, who’s joining us?'

"The airline’s UK and Ireland general manager, Achraf El Hassani, said: “Royal Air Maroc is delighted to have launched the only non-stop service from the north of England direct to Casablanca. The demand for these initial flights has been extremely encouraging, and we are thrilled to be providing yet another invaluable link from the UK to Africa.”

And from that article:
"Julian Carr, aviation director at Manchester Airport,"

Is this a new appointment? Certainly a new name to me.

This is great to hear and I think Africa is a growing market from Manchester, and RAM could do very well!

We will have a better idea when the full April stats get released. Fares seem in line with LHR so can't be doing badly.

Also, they just opened their bookings for winter 2017 and beyond so good signs for the route. Hopefully it may be able to expand to let's say 4x weekly 737-700 next year?

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
