Birmingham: Ryanair Route Flights, New Routes & Base Updates

Use this prefix for new threads for Birmingham Airport
I posted it first via bhxnews at 10am
I knew about this since 2022! 🤭 I’m not sure where I was hinting, though, because I don’t have the time to look back now. But 2028 is looking interesting 🤐

No sign of ARN or PFO for S27
Last I heard PFO was going to be suspended due to economic reasons but they want to bring it back at a later date but subject to change

Is Wroclaw the only new route?

For good or bad reasons?

Are there still gaps in the based schedule? WRO-BHX is not replacing either of those, the timings show it’s on a WRO based plane.

When hopefully GRO,PFO,REU,SOF get put back on sale and with Wroclaw a new route for 2027

I was expecting bhx to enter the Reggio Calabria,Rimini market possibly the Bologna market Jet2 will likely snap those routes in 2028

I was half expecting Ryanair to enter the Spanish,Croatian and added Prague

Ryanair is pulling all Reggio flights to UK. Disappeared from MAN a while ago so a non starter for BHX. The tourist infrastructure is not so advanced in that area so no to Jet2 either, for now. Rimini, a definite possibility. More UK flights to CAG would also seem realistic at some stage.

Ryanair have confirmed it has announced its first batch 29 new routes with more to come with a BUMPER summer to come so i expect more and more

Wroclaw is added

Where next peeps?

The airport apparently believes it has gone but you may be right. I doubt they will return in the summer as it caters for many south Italian expats and so isn’t necessarily a seasonal market. If they are expanding from a given airport you would likely see STN then DUB (REG not served) then, maybe, MAN (REG already tried and dropped). But I agree about variety. In Italy I would look more at Lamezia Terme, Rimini and Cagliari? Also BHX-BRI is missing, I think.

FYI REU and GRO are now back on sale, 3x weekly each... both down from 4x weekly but BCN is up 2x weekly so same as last year in reality.

As the current Summer 27 Schedule stands (Peak Aug Week), there are a total of 255x weekly departures (-2 on last years) over 49 routes (-1 on last year)

New Routes
  • CPH: +3x weekly
  • WRO: +2x weekly
Increases
  • BCN: +2x weekly
  • BGY: +1x weekly
  • DUB: +1x weekly
  • FAO: +1x weekly
  • RAK: +1x weekly
Cuts
  • BER: -1x weekly
  • GRO: -1x weekly
  • REU: -1x weekly
  • TFS: -2x weekly
  • VLC: -1x weekly
  • WMI: -1x weekly
Not on Sale
  • ARN: -3x weekly
  • PFO: -1x weekly
  • SOF: -2x weekly
There is a long time for things to change for the Summer season so will be interesting to see how things evolve over the next few months...

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
