Manchester: Airport Consultative Committee (MACC) - Minutes

Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
Unfortunately I'm still waiting for any advance information that I might receive.

Unfortunately there are no advance notes available for this week's meeting.
I'll report over the weekend when I have time.

The following details are just from notes that I made during the meeting. There are, as yet, no official documents and I apologise for the rather sparse details that I have included.

The first part of the meeting a presentation by Chris Woodroofe:
1/ There were slight delays at security in July however a 'tweak' of the system brought things back to the required level.
2/ Chris explained that he had only returned from India the previous day where he was involved with various presentations in association with the Great North international mission.
3/ Chris hopes that Indigo might return however the long routing that they have to take to avoid Pakistan airspace has resulted in extended flying time meaning that the overall return flying time is over 24 hours.
4/ He hope that Norse may increase the frequency of flights to Bangkok
5/ PIA are now serving Islamabad and Lahore. Singapore are now daily. Egyptair have increased their flights to 5 per week and Biman Bangladesh have returned with a twice weekly service.
6/ The North Gate security gate onto the airfield has reopened.
7/ Terminal 3 - the restaurant is due to reopen in early November. At the same time there is a plan to relocate the airside/landside barrier.
8/ Traffic. The airport is well aware of the continued problems for traffic coming to the airport. There is a root and branch investigation into the drop-off/pick-up arrangement. The problem with drop-off is caused by drivers waiting for space to become available in area 1 while there is space already in area 2 & 3.
9/ Rosie Swift has been appointed as Surface Access Portfolio Director at Manchester Airport. She will lead the development of the airport's landside experience, which will include reviewing the surface road access.
10/ Rail services - there is still no definitive route for the new Liverpool to airport line. Chris is in favour of the Manchester underground station.
11/ Rail services - 20pc of Manchester passengers arrive by public transport
12/ Rail services - there is now a regular rail service that operates - at a minimum of hourly intervals - throughout the night.
13/ Rail services - a new service is planned to operate in 2027 between Birmingham New Street and the airport.
14/ Rail services - Improvements are planned for the Passenger Interchange.

This was followed by a slide presentation by Adam Freeman - Decarbonisation & ESG Director - which was based around the airport’s decarbonisation programme.

If I came across any official minutes for the meeting I will try to post them on here.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
