If it is LF related then with FR jumping on the route:
a) will it really support 2 carriers
b) will we also see the end of Wizz on Bucharest
A more positive way of thinking could be do more favourable weather conditions along with a modern NEO still make the distance fully acceptable. Let's hope it is this latter scenario

way i look at it is check out the luton airport takeoffs, most the wizz flights do not backtrack to the start of the runway and their runway is a tiny bit shorter, together with the modern NEO Engines this could explain.

The intersection takeoffs you mention at LTN provide around 500ft more takeoff run (5,810ft) than from D intersection at LBA (5,344ft).

Today in LBA there is light winds and it’s dry, which neither hinders or helps the required length for the NEO.

Who knows how many passengers were onboard, but it’s a Wednesday in early February and there 239 seats to fill?

Looking at the schedules for LBA-OTP from May onwards, both Ryanair and Wizz operate 3x weekly, and both operate within a few hours of each other on Tu/Th/Sa - with RYR being half the price on nearly every date I checked. Not sure how sustainable that will be and if both airlines will last on the route? That’ll be 6x weekly departures to OTP from LBA, yet LPL and MAN only have 3x departures each week during that time for comparison.

Again very much about FR gunning for Wizz having identified the well documented current weaknesses. If FR are the eventual winners in the battle on OTP then I hope they don't eventually up sticks from the route as well, though have a feeling they are pretty happy with LBA at this current moment

500ft is still only around 180metres more length!
You mention we will have x6 weekly deps to OTP but just x3 from MAN and LPL, does that not make OTP a key route from LBA then offering a bit more choice for a change, lets claw some pax from lancs to here, its the same now with cluj.

Last year, Bucharest was one of LBAs busiest routes as I recall. The fact Ryanair want a piece of the action suggests the situation hasn't changed . Today may possibly have seen a lower load than normal - it is Wednesday in February, traditionally the quietest day in the quietest month. It's the overall load factor inbound and outbound together that matter. All airlines, on most routes, have occasional flights with poor loads. A few years ago I flew MAN- LHR on an A321 and there were 26 on board. The return on an A320 had 31.

I arrived from LPA last night at exactly the same time as a Wizz KRK. Hard to judge numbers but it looked pretty well loaded from what I could see, mainly Polish people visiting family or returning to the UK and some stags in the passport queue. The immigration guys were very vigilant some of the PAX did visit the side office which slowed things for the non EU queue!

Worth a read especially if you're among those who doubt that the routes suspended from LBA are anything to do with engine repairs and suspect there are other reasons. This article relates to Romanian routes being suspended. As LBA has so far retained both Romanian routes we are doing rather better than many other airports.

It's worth noting that not only are there 45 aircraft grounded by the end of March, the repair time for each is 300 days. Only as further new deliveries join the fleet and grounded aircraft return to the skies will the pressure on the fleet start to diminish but it's stated also that suspended routes will not operate this summer, so very much as LBA is seeing with it's Polish routes..

More fool him for not reading the small print and even bigger fool him for not researching it beforehand. A quick Google will tell you most "low cost" airlines charge for printing out your boarding pass. At the end of the day it is a service, a sevice which a full service airline will charge as part of the ticket price structure. The exception would be if your pre-printed boarding pass doesn't scan at the airport, then you will usually be issued another free of charge. It might seem awkward but it saves the airlines lot of time and additional costs chargeable by the use of handling agents.

Personally I did think a lot of the Wizz air cuts was smoke and mirrors but looking on X and these posts shows the extent of Wizz' problems. Really bad for the airline seems to be crippling them. Hope P&W are compensating them. Hope they eventually rebuild their LBA network. We seem to have survived better then other airports with cuts. Back in the day we had 5 Wizz arrivals on a Friday morning,

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
