I would think so. Freebird are charters. Sun Express will be a scheduled service, seat only.

Great addition to the LBA network. It's about time we attracted a Turkish carrier. Sun Express have quite a big network out of Antalya so I wouldn't be surprised if connections will be available.

Finally what we have been waiting for, the turkish routes do extremely well so sun express should be a success , its good the airport are on the ball marketing the route as the vast majority of yorks public would not of heard of sun express. Just one neg, LBA is currently not on the drop down list on their website even though its been announced?
The icing on the cake would be turkish to istanbul

Just for information, Forums4airports and the LBA Support Group now receive LBA press releases directly from the LBA marketing contractor. We have agreed to publish every news article sent to us.

What's key for me is that Sun Express is part owned by Lufthansa and Turkish. A link to both which might come to fruition in the future. It's also been voted as THE best leisure airline.

I'm reliably informed by a friend (you know who you are!) that Sun Express operate 9 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and have 32 more on order, so with LBA incentivising airlines to use them here, it could well be a MAX that we see here, at least on some flights.

I'm reliably informed by a friend (you know who you are!) that Sun Express operate 9 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and have 32 more on order, so with LBA incentivising airlines to use them here, it could well be a MAX that we see here, at least on some flights.

The bulk of the fleet comprises the ubiquitous 737-800 and as the flight times are well away from the night time restrictions there wouldn’t be a need to incentivise the use of the Max, although as you say they could turn up at LBA in the normal course of their utilisation and their daytime use would no doubt please the local residents, well some of them! Whichever aircraft turn up, they’re highly welcome!
