Leeds Bradford: £100m Regeneration Programme REGEN

Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
Travelling out through LBA on the 27th..looking forward to seeing the changes since April...well not as much as it was going to be..Jet2 changed our departure from 9am to 6am🤬🤬...inhuman..At least weve booked a hot breakfast served at our seat...c'est la vie

The planned modification of the Instrument Landing System mentioned sometime ago as part of the REGEN work resolves previous glidepath signal interference on stands 1,4 and 5. Consequently, fully operational again these stands can handle aircraft up to the size of an Airbus A320.
Any modification of the ILS system will have nothing to do with the glide path. The localiser signal can be affected by movements on the edges of its coverage (ie those stands). But I've yet to see any definite info that anything will change. The ILS is already the industry standard and while different aerials are available I don't think there is space at LBA. Heathrow installed them a few years ago but I believe they are the only UK airport to do so.

You are correct, I did mean the localiser and while we are yet to see any details of what is planned it was mentioned by the airport and was reported first here by @White Heather

Try and take some pics, or even a short walkthrough vid if you get time.

Well, I hope the airport gives us more juicy updates in the form of pics and even videos. They haven't given us much this year. It would be massively appreciated.
Yes for all the support they get, they can't even cough up a couple of pictures for us to see how it's progressing. Anyway we will find out soon enough now.

I took some photos of the new WHSmith and Starbucks today but have reached my attachment limit so not sure how to send across.

@BCFC - I cannot quote your post for some reason.

In reality its not a significant distance. Bear in mind that video is at least a month old and shows the older temporary route. The person making the video has also gone into the cabin bar and back on themselves making it appear longer than it actually takes.

If you were to compare it to walking the length of terminal 2 at manchester its worlds apart.
This is LBA….not MAN. I was just saying what a ball ache for any passengers boarding from gates 1-3 and wanting to use the lounge.
No idea why you cannot quote on my post.

It was the last day of the boots before closing down. WHSmith was open in both the old location (limited stock) and new.

Much nicer experience than when I went in June, the empty corridor now has a WHSmith and TVs.

Ate at the new Monty’s Diner, service wasn’t the best, forgave as it’s still new and was busy. I don’t think they were enough staff for how busy it was. The music and theme of the diner is nice. Looking at the google reviews they seem to be having some teething problems.

The old seating area near the boots is now closed along with the retail units Inmotion side.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
