Leeds Bradford: Weather & Technical Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
I assume they were coached back.
The aircraft flew back to MAN after an hour or so. Whether still loaded or empty I couldn't say but given it was only a temporary diversion due to lack of fire cover and (I presume) insuffucient fuel to carry on holding, it would seem more likely the passengers stayed on board.

Bet a number are not happy boinging on a bus back to Manchester because you car is parked there when you live 10 mins away from LBA. Should have saved themselves time and hassle of crossing the Pennines on the M62 when they could have booked to Zante from LBA. Too much leakage still to over the Pennines.
With the added bonus of the distinct possibility of flying from LBA to ZTH on a 733!

Earlier today LS267 to Paris CDG operated by, you guessed it, G-GDFO, returned to the airport 40 minutes after departure, with G-GDFR operating EXS267D with a 2 hour delay

LS431 operated by G-GDFN has returned to stand, I wonder if this has affected fire cover as nothing has moved since LS284 landed 17 minutes ago. KL1023 from Amsterdam and FR2324 from Girona seem to be diverting, presumably to MAN/LPL (KLM is on approach to Manchester)

Edit - fire alarm evacuation (Trevor Smith - Facebook)

Strange. I saw the KLM pass over LBA at 10,000 feet, head North then turn back as if intending a normal 32 approach. When checking FR24, to see it's track, a 737 was landing, another was on approach, another had just taken off and two were lined up on the taxiway waiting. So all normal at that point. The KLM must have been directed by ATC to head over the field at FL 10 but presume an evacuation took place as it was circling back for its approach. I thought it was quiet!

Update: Aircraft moving on the ground again. The Jet2 from Chania has just moved off the taxiway on to stand 36 minutes after landing. A business jet is awaiting a 14 departure and the Easyjet A320 is taxiing off stand.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
