My wife and I transited Glasgow Airport the week before last with easyJet from/to Bristol to spend a few days in and around Glasgow, one of our favourite British cities.

We've used GLA several times in the past but not since 2009. We always found it to be an efficient airport - not too big but not too small either - and weren't let down this time.

It's easy (no pun intended!) to find your way around and the eateries (we used one on the return journey) are varied and not over expensive as airports go.

I've heard one or two moans down the years about the ground floor departure 'cabin' that easyJet seems to use but my wife and I can't see any problem with it. It's a very short walk to the aircraft from there.

Does anyone know what extra traffic GLA is expecting for the Commonwealth Games next year? I believe some infrastructure improvement is also taking place in time for The Games but I'm not sure what.

I'm not sure about the traffic (although with Emirates as the official supporter - I guess there may be a good amount of people using the 2x Emirates flights) but improvement wise they are fitting new LED taxi-way lights for one that I know. I'm not sure about what else. The easyjet area, I've only seen it empty, I didn't see anything particularly wrong with it, but very orange!! (it is easyjet!) Will be flying out of it in a couple of weeks, so I'll see what it's like then.

Thanks for the reply, Scott.

I have no complaints about the easyJet departure area. From memory it's been like that for probably nearly ten years but you do hear the occasional whinge from punters awaiting to depart.

I think it's perfectly functional and has always been operated efficiently when I've passed through. You have to go down some stairs to reach it and some people think everywhere in an airport should be on the level with travelators provided if they have to go more than about 20 metres.

I shall be interested in you opinion after you've used it.

On the subject of the Easyjet area - I forgot we were flying from the international area, so we didn't use it, we used 52 which is stand 25, interchangeable between Domestic and International flights as our aircraft came in from Luton. Was strange being told to go out onto the tarmac an board through the rear steps instead of using the airbridge (we had seats at the back, row 21). Apart from a fire alarm during boarding I can't complain about easy at Glasgow.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
