Cemetery Road at the end of runway 32 or the Multiflight cafe accessible from the A658 on your right before the tunnel. There is a charge to park there but you will get better views across the airfield as its opposite the terminal building. Importantly there is also a cafe which serves good food.

With the cafe car park is it pay and display or do you pay in the cafe do you know?

The Cemetary road viewpoint is really good! Though it's a bit chilly! Excellent for takeoffs so far. And unlike Cardiff I don't have to stand on a bin!

Ive heard various reasons. The most likely is road safety. I say this because although the main access had been closed with a locked gate no attempt has been made to restrict access at the other entrance. Bear in mind the entrance that has been blocked gave access straight onto the road just below the brow of the hill and was unsafe. The open entrance is much better in terms of road safety and offers parking on a good surface, the only problem is it can be a little muddy on the footpath.

The exit with the gate was leathel with the speed of cars coming over that brow of the hill!! I never knew there was another entrance i shall have to find it as it did offer good views, I just goto the cemetery end now.

The main reason for gate been put in place and blocking the entrance to the Plane Tree Hill by the Farmer, was because it was costing Leeds City Council thousands of pounds to clear up all the Asbestos and rubbish that was been fly tipped by the public.

Just to advise:

Before Christmas I added a new airport news section located above the LBA forum page. The benefits of this is news articles can be featured on the site homepage; all the news items for LBA can be featured together in one place; it creates a one stop point for LBA news; it prevents the forums generic threads from being pushed off the 1st and 2nd page of the forum.

If a news item is relevent within a specific generic thread within the forum, the preferred way of reporting the news within the thread would be to add a link.

Examples below.

Add a url link will show as:

or

Using the forums link code will show as:

Leeds: Council scraps airport link road

So the airport made a loss and profit at the same time??
As I understand it operational profit is the amount left after all expenses have been deducted from the total revenue of the core activity of the business. It does not include items such as interest payments or write down of assets which can then lead to a business suffering an overall loss although operationally it’s in profit.

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
