The lowest seem to be Greek islands, which seems odd. The Belfast International and Paris figures make you wonder why Easyjet gave given up on them. Overall though, thise a figures to make DSA fanatics cry.
Well if this happens, at least when DSA2 fails again, they can do what they want with the land. If they sold that lot for development they would recover a fair chunk of the outlay if not all. But this wont make the airport any more viable. It's still a dead duck that's costing millions.
They often take the take off from taxiway Delta and still get airborne quickly, especially with a headwind. Irrespective of the passenger load, Paris isn't far for an A319 so a light fuel load.
My information is that the Council don't expect to make a determination this side of the New Year. No doubt they have more important plans to consider first. LBA are aware.
What are the chances though of the CAA granting the same airspace as before, given it was far in excess of what was actually justifiable for an airport with relatively few movements? The CAA have already commented on this and not in a positive way. There are certain to be plenty of objections...
And yet Ryanair go from strength to strength on their several LBA Polish routes. So the demand is there, just probably insufficient to justify two carriers, and so far, Ryanair seem to win the battle here on those routes where they go head to head with Wizz.
I just hope that the Cluj Napoca...
Not LBA related so just for information. Jet2 have axed the twice weekly Manchester to La Palma route from 30 October, and have cancelled the start of Stansted to La Palma too. 'Unavoidable operational reasons' was the only explanation given. So La Palma no longer features on the Jet2...
I would speculate that given the termination of Easyjet's ops to CDG, there is a golden opportunity for Air France / Hop to take on the route with a daily A220 (or similar). Jet2 just isn't enough. KLM are doing well and they are basically one with Air France. The AENA ownership and terminal...
It was always going to have an impact, even if it was delayed. Rising fuel costs have lost us Aurigny, Sun Express and in part, Easyjet. It wouldn't surprise me if we didn't suffer some further frequency or even route cuts during the winter season. It is a sad fact that when the going gets...
There is a lot of disquiet and confusion expressed on line given the polar opposite views given by Unite and LBA as to the impact. If everyone goes on strike that are in Unite, (all 130) how can the airport operate? Who else can operate the new CSZ without genrating queues into the car park? Or...
Just more waffle. They are miles away from getting airspace and radar installed so if it is 2027 it will be the back end, and he has said nothing to justify any claim it will be a success. In the current climate, it is difficult to see which, if any airlines would commit to investing in DSA...
Chadwick wont be happy though to see Ryanair announce 4 new routes (Corfu, Tirana, Bari and Budapest) out of LBA today, will he? Doesn't suit his narrative.
Well we are all just going to have to travel to DSA in the future as the pro DSA lot seem to think airlines are leaving LBA (and other airports) to start operations from DSA when it opens. 😂
Because passengers are interested in the airport experience. Not surprising when you consider a single return flight to wherever could result in passengers spending from 6 to 8 hours in terminals in total. The passenger view is completely different to the airline view. If passengers opt to fly...
Frankly, if Aurigny dont sort themselves out they wont be flying from anywhere. They lost in excess of £9.5m last year and with fuel prices now double what they were, things are only likely to get worse before they get better. From what I saw and heard, passenger loads varied from half decent to...
You may have a long wait as LBA seem to have said no to one now on cost grounds. I asked at the ACC earlier in the year. Apparently they cost a small fortune!
