Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
They do plenty, just not at LBA, which suggests to me there was never much commitment
Or they expected LBA to do it especially as LBA isn't one of their bigger operations. Looking at LBAs social media there doesn't seem to be much mention of EasyJet’s routes.

There isnt now. But I think LBA have known for some time they were not staying. As I said, LBA did quite a bit of advertising each time new routes were announced.

Having flown to Beauvais myself, it is such a dead slops airport to get through. Mind you that was in 1994 and a bloke had to come and open up the duty free shop every time there was a departure due. No doubt it has changed a lot since then but maybe Ryanair could give it a bash again
Beauvais airport is split into 2 small seperate terminals but even if you joined the 2 terminals together its still not as large as LBA! The departure lounges are pretty small in fact so much so when full of pax it clogs up those trying to pass through security. I reacon beauvais airport and warsaw modlin are twin bros as there very similar airports 🤣

The perils of a non based operation certainly came home to roost Saturday. I have a customer (left accountancy now in travel) who booked an Easyjet holiday originally flying EJU7118 to BCN 15.15 Saturday. The rain in Catalonia has been exceptional so inbound arrived 4 hours late after a slot delay and the flight was called only for a further 76 hour slot to be imposed at the point the passengers were about to board. Clearly this was not going to work for the crew so the flight was deferred until yesterday flight EJU9118 but in the meantime the hotel booked under an ABTA package (naughty) failed to hold the room eventough Easyjet Emailed them. My customer felt the Swissport staff were lovely with some rude passengers but were powerless to sort things as they were not Easyjet employees so assistance was limited. In the end after a heated conversation the Easyjet call centre offered my customer a better hotel albeit on a shorter holiday and a 25% refund - but he had to work very hard to get it - I feel Jet2 would have been far more proactive and automatically offered this. This is a cautionary tale for anyone booked on an Easyjet holiday to proactively manage the hotel themselves in a similar situation!

So easyJet launched 18 new routes yesterday which of course no longer has any bearing on LBA. And before anyone asks, yes I am bitter about this because I know I keep going on about them at LBA, but in my view they have well and truly shafted LBA and without promoting things better which could have really helped. And whilst this is now water under the bridge there is certainly a very sour taste left in my mouth that is for sure.

I think you must look to factors other than poor timings as they are/were operating typical second and third bank timings from LBA, one or two earlier and one very late arrival into BCN. Given that many of the seats would be taken by EZY Holidays, I doubt it would be a factor. Their departure is more about competition with Jet2 Holidays, though I would have thought there would be room for a second company on AGP, PMI and BCN.

It will be interesting to see what the figures are from Aberdeen when they start up. The flight timings seem similar to LBA with a very late arrival into BCN on one day. However, there is no competition.

Barcelona flights from Aberdeen to launch early due to ‘high demand’

Looks like bookings have been good enough so far that easyJet have moved forward the start date from ABZ-BCN

Decent length sector too - certainly longer than BCN-LBA. As has been said - no competition. Be interesting to see how much marketing they are doing though?

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
