Birmingham: Airport Photos

You know I didn't even notice that. Anyway, I've zoomed right in on the camera and it's actually a magpie swooping down somewhere between me and the aircraft, perfect timing eh 🙂

I honestly thought it was something mechanical and part of the aircraft.

It is a bit dull but many aircraft available for charter are plain, it allows them to be easily painted or decals to be fitted should a potential customer require it.

Nice picture, Ray. It's always nice to see the heavies at BHX. Once upon a time we had 3 777's on the ground at a time. 😉

The Dreamliner looks shorter than the 763?

I think that's mainly to do with perspective.

I'd assume that by the look of it in general, it is shorter than the 763?

Boeing 767-300ER 54.9 m (180 ft 3 in)
Boeing 787-800 56.7 m (186 ft)

Will miss those 76W's come the summer 😢

Me too, the 757's won't be too far behind either :sorry:

What are they being replaced with?

The 787, Thomson will be using them ex BHX from July.

The Dreamliners, A350s and Embraer E jets of today's world just don't hold a candle to the classic 737s, 757s, BAC1-11s, Tristars and DC10s of yesteryear - I'm obviously showing my age!

I will see your 737's, 757's, BAC1-11's, Tristars and DC-10's and raise you Tridents,727's, VC-10's and Viscounts. Now I am showing my age!

Nowadays with the spread of A320's and 777's there does not seem to be the big thrill you used to get when spotting aircraft.

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
