I've been patient, as a matter of necessity, since Peter Walker MP refused LBA permission to extend the runway around 1967, and there was immediate talk of the airport being closed or relocated to Church Fenton - except it was still in use by the RAF and they soon put a stop to such rumours.

As it happened, almost immediately after this decision, hailed by the NIMBYs of the era (LACAN), LBA together with Aer Lingus got their revenge by launching Dublin flights using the 737 200, and BAC1-11, both of which made a delightful racket . Karma!

Trouble is at my age, patience is a virtue I'm running out of.

Disruption for flights to/from Leeds Bradford Airport today (Fri 20 Oct) due to temporary runway closure​

Due to a temporary runway closure at Leeds Bradford Airport today (Fri 20 Oct), Ryanair have regrettably been forced to cancel a small number of flights operating to/from Leeds Bradford. Any aircraft currently on the way to Leeds Bradford will divert to Manchester Airport where transport to Leeds will be arranged by our handling agent.

Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from Leeds Bradford Airport on Fri 20 Oct or Sat 21 Oct should check their Ryanair app for flight updates before travelling to the airport.

We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers as a result of this disruption which is outside of Ryanair's control and affects all airlines operating to/from Leeds Bradford on Fri 20 Oct.

Ryanair have now confirmed that they are reducing all flights to Portugal next year due to 14% increases in airport charges imposed by the company that run Faro, Porto and Madeira. So it looks like our new and successful route to Porto might become our ex route and go in the bin as did Vilnius this year.
