Was thinking, our 2 new jet2 egypt routes start this winter, how will our b737-800s cope on these routes from LBA esp if weather conditions dont suit? Is there a chance we may see A321s on the routes or am i just living in hope?
No point in building your hopes up. Tui managed just fine with Boeing 737-800s.

I would suspect the newer aircraft will be mandated with jet2 standards to be one of their newer aircraft (the short field package ones) - which allow for longer routes such as Egypt from LBA. As @aviation has said don't get excited as the TUI 737-800NG's never struggled.

And I would imagine in this day and age they are not making crew go there and back. So if required a tech stop somewhere would work (though expensive).

When, not if, those A321NEO's arrive, providing the Yorkshire market can sustain it they'll be straight onto the LBA - Egypt. Increase in seats available, same fuel burn roughly as a 737-800 and the ability to lift without much of a problem.

I believe they ran a similar schedule last year.

Definitely looks like the Boeing 737-300’s days are coming to an end. As all Jet2’s city, Sun & Ski routes are now on sale for winter 2027/2028 and all that I’ve checked are shown to operated by the Boeing 737-800’s as far as I can tell.

Now just got to work out when the last operated Boeing 737-300 operated flight will be, looks like is late October or very early November 2027.

LBA confirmed 5 733s next summer only last week so it may be they are being given a break over winter rather than being pensioned off just yet. Unless of course the economic situation has resulted in a change of plan.

Not this coming winter, its next Winter 2027/2028 that’s gone on sale this morning

Fits the plan I think we all knew which was 2 to go after this summer and the remaining 5 after next summer.
It's also reported on the Dff that 1 x 738 is supposed to be going at the end of S26 with 2 more potentially on their way before S27.
Still leaves more than enough B738s for LBA in the short to medium term.
Has there been any more on the A321CEO LBA rumour or was that just someone getting our hopes up?

10 year old 737 800 G-JZHJ, which was bought new and delivered to LBA in 2016, is now withdrawn from revenue service and currently at MAN, undergoing maintenance, and interior reconfiguration to provide corporate transport. This was announced some months ago, with Jet2 gatecrashing the football club and executive charter market.

I am slightly surprised they picked a relatively new airframe but if they intend operating in this market long term, they won"t want to reconfigure another one a few years down the line. HJ could be performing this role for the next 15-20 years.

Let's hope it proves lucrative for them. As we keep saying Jet2 rarely get stuff wrong and are good at spotting a gap in the market. My only concern is this is potentially a single point of failure if it goes tech with just 1 a/c configured this way. Mind you, once LUFC qualify for Europe it could be here there and everywhere

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
