This is one of the worst days I have ever seen at LBA - from a combination of the LBA website, Jet2 website and Flightradar there have been 23 of 52 departures cancelled already including 13 of 22 scheduled before 9am

If all those flights are cancelled then most passengers will have gone. It does seem crazy that some contraption doesn't exist that enables refuellers to get up to the wing without climbing ladders that are not only likely to blow over from under them but which could also damage the aircraft. Some form of hydraulic ramp with protective rails around it must surely exist?Does the airport not have a contingency plan in place for days like today surrounding aircraft refuelling?
Can’t they stick a bus somewhere to block the wind from blowing the chaps off there ladders!!
It seems mad we can actually take off into it but can’t get a fuel hose plugged in!
The terminal must be bursting at the seems with thousands of extra bodies in there. What if the fire alarm goes off again? You’ll have thousands out on the ramp in silly winds, when things could have been moved on if they could pump some fuel!
I’ve seen in europe fuel trucks that rise up hydraulically, so steps aren’t required. Perhaps investing in just one of those would mitigate days like today!?
Most unlike Jet2 to cancel. Hopefully they will rearrange for tomorrow, after all people pay 'the extra' to travel on Jet2 in the belief they won't be left high and dry.Loads of outbound flights now been cancelled.

Seems sensible to me. Its the end of the season with most flight probably going out with light loads. The cost of any diversions and subsequent delays far outways the cost of cancelling at this point in the season. Most unlike Jet2 to cancel. What about Ryanair?Loads of outbound flights now been cancelled.

It's the Sunday at the start of October half-term, I think it'll be quite busy today. The inbounds not so muchSeems sensible to me. I would guess loads were more as its half term hols next week, not the best start to a weeks hol!Seems sensible to me. Its the end of the season with most flight probably going out with light loads. You would hope there be some sort of investigation to this, surly with all the Health and Safety these days a fueler should have a better contraption than a step ladder, although it’s a good tool when the weather is fine. But how many of ear aircraft would have got away if they could fuel them?If all those flights are cancelled then most passengers will have gone. It does seem crazy that some contraption doesn't exist that enables refuellers to get up to the wing without climbing ladders that are not only likely to blow over from under them but which could also damage the aircraft. I can feel a question coming on for the next ACC.You would hope there be some sort of investigation to this, surly with all the Health and Safety these days a fueler should have a better contraption than a step ladder, although it’s a good tool when the weather is fine. Are we sure all these are cancelled? LS257 for example doesn't show as being cancelled. What about Ryanair?
A very scary experience for any passengers on board poor buggers.Could be worse, a jet2 737 has just landed at BHX, landed hard, very little rudder input and gone briefly onto the grass before entering the runway again! What a day but does make interesting viewing on the live streams !
