I tried Vietnam Airlines Economy on two very different aircraft: the widebody Airbus A350-900 and narrowbody Airbus A321-200.Our journey began at Osaka Kansai Airport, flying to Ho Chi Minh City aboard Vietnam Airlines’ flagship A350 before connecting onwards to Singapore on the smaller A321.

In this review, I take you through the complete passenger experience, including check-in at Kansai, boarding, both Economy cabins, seat comfort, legroom, in-flight entertainment, meals, service and the connection experience at Ho Chi Minh City.

The A350 offered a modern long-haul cabin, seatback entertainment and all the comforts you would expect from a widebody aircraft. The A321 provided a much simpler experience for the shorter second leg. But which aircraft offered the better journey, and is Vietnam Airlines Economy worth considering when travelling around Asia?

📍 Leg 1: Osaka-Kansai (KIX) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)
✈️ Aircraft: Airbus A350-900 (VN-A886)

📍 Leg 2: Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Singapore (SIN)
✈️ Aircraft: Airbus A321-200 (VN-A358)
💺 Cabin: Economy
⌛ Flight Time: 1 hour, 37 minutes

💵 Cost: £141.60 (one-way cash ticket)

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
