Birmingham: Weather & Technical Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Use this prefix for new threads for Birmingham Airport
We had two LHR diversions yesterday, an Aer Lingus A320 EI-EDP and a British Airways A321 G-EUXG who called to request a clear runway as fuel was running low. There was also three Ryanair's and an Easyjet A319 from Stansted, problems with the runway apparently.

Is it me or is BHX now a "Divert" airport, the airport has quite a few compared to recent years.

A couple of diverts from LGW this morning an EZY A319 and an Air Transat A332(C-GTSZ)from Toronto.
Probably weather and landing delays the reason.

734 OM-AEX was a morning divert from LBA at 08:00. I think it departed back to Leeds at around 09:30.

Big delay on the 10:00am Aegean flight from Rhodes, it's now due at 03/08/14 at 00:30.

We had a Monarch A321 and a TCX 763 divert in from MAN because of the security incident.

Took the kids to Sheldon Country Park for an hour this afternoon and noticed EK40 was still on stand, I left around 17:45. There's nothing on the BHX departures but FR24 has it down as a 20:10 departure, six hours late. If that's acurate we'll have two EK 773's and an AI 787 all in at the same time, it's shame PIA aren't running the Saturday flight at the moment or we'd have had 3x 777's.

Aircraft gone tech? Wonder if EK would be so kind as to send an A380 tomorrow to pick up all the stranded pax!

She may even go over to MAEL for attention if required ?

If it's an issue that needs hangar attention you would think so.

BHX departures has EK8040 scheduled 12:00 - Delayed Estimated 15:00.

Looks as though EK8040 is finally about to depart soon along with today's EK40 that is delayed an hour and a half.

Not sure why but BHX is taking diversions from EMA.A MON A321 and TOM 738 have just landed, and about half a dozen in the EMA hold,4 or 5 of them are freighters.
Anyone know what is going on??

Apparently a Jet2 aircraft had a minor landing incident which closed EMA for a short time while a runway inspection was carried out.All is back to normal now but at least 2 aircraft diverted to BHX.

Glad to see it was only minor. We had a Thomas Cook A321 divert in from BRS in the early hours. I believe it was G-TCDB from Dalaman.

Due to a security scare at LTN that airport is currently closed.
A RYR flight diverted in to BHX earlier but there is a WizzAir A320(HA-LWE)from Budapest currently on approach.

An interesting divert this morning EL AL 738 4X-EKF arrived from Luton around 05:30. It departed back to Luton about half an hour ago.

British Airways 787 G-ZBJD is currently parked on the 80's stands, not sure of an ETD.

Heads Up!

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man.... Landing is the first!
i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
