Equally the government is also terrified of airport planning applications as Andy Burnham has just said that the decision on a third runway at Heathrow should be down to the local Councils involved as part of his devolution of powers to the local level. Nobody wants to deal with them because as you say their feet will be held to the fire whatever the decision. They are doing exactly the opposite of a straight bat by extending beyond the original expiry date. The extra few days from the 25th to the 30th was to compensate for the downtime suffered by the portal, but this extra 15 days is for no obvious valid reason given there was no requirement to consult in the first place. They are doing exactly what they did with the CLEUDs. Delay and more delay. I honestly think the council and plans panel are terrified of airport planning matters as they know that whatever the outcome, it will all kick off.
I am sure it would suit them just fine if they delay to the point LBA appeal and the matter is taken out of their hands.
Fairly sure it was local mayors where there is one, so it would be our Tracey here and we all know how supportive she is!! But there's a big difference between demolishing a small town, diverting the M4 and building a 3rd runway, and changing night hours to match nearly every other airport and adopting an annual quota count limit instead of a movement limit, which is also as used at most airports. Both comply with Government and CAA policy so it really shouldn't be an issue.Equally the government is also terrified of airport planning applications as Andy Burnham has just said that the decision on a third runway at Heathrow should be down to the local Councils involved as part of his devolution of powers to the local level. Nobody wants to deal with them because as you say their feet will be held to the fire whatever the decision.
Probably BBC and by SS. Well let's see how that pans out!I am advised that someone from LBA will be on TV at some point this week, presumably Look North and/or Calendar.
Hopefully a wander through the new security area and maybe Duty Free if its not far off finished?Probably BBC and by SS. Well let's see how that pans out!
Unless of course its in the studios in Leeds. They should sit Vince Hodder down on the same sofa as Nick Hodgkinson. That should be fun. I think Vince is on holiday though. Could be Joselyn instead.Hopefully a wander through the new security area and maybe Duty Free if its not far off finished?
That not everyone wants to share specific details of everything they do, or have done. Doesn't mean to say further action hasn't been completed.Ive made several posts to gauge what level support members forum members have given over and above submitting their personal support to LCC. No responses.
I have given suggestions. No responses.
What am I to conclude?
Maybe not everyone does want to share but is it the case that no one wants to share? That not everyone wants to share specific details of everything they do, or have done. Doesn't mean to say further action hasn't been completed.
Equally it could be nothing has been done.
All I am saying here is we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions either way just because details haven't been shared. People share what they want to
I know I have got a least 20 people to either email or use the portal, I have asked others to also but it’s there choice if they do but I would be disappointed if they don’tMaybe not everyone does want to share but is it the case that no one wants to share?
Im sorry, but we have a free hobby that revolves around the airport and costs us nothing. On rare occasions when the airport needs our help we should be prepared to 'pay back' and mobilise.
There are a lot of stong views expressed on here but it seems to me very little action. All that is required is a little from everyone to make a big difference.
You hit the the nail on the head LBAYORKIE, it's a hobby, at least it is for most of us on here although I do realise that a number of forum members either do work at the airport of have done in the past - or might aspire to in the future. For the record I have submitted my support to the council portal a couple of weeks ago, and found it very easy to do. However, I live over 30 miles away, work full time plus some more in my own business and haven't got the time to go down the airport rallying support or asking friends to do something that many of them wouldn't care two hoots about.we have a free hobby
I totally agree, if each person just posts the www.supportlba.co.uk site on their local community websites that would be great. We are a regional airport so anyone resident in Yorkshire can legitimately submit support. There's nothing else I can do, because of my location and age anyone I could ask to support additionally either wouldn't care or would just never get around to it, and any groups I'm in would be preaching to the converted. The closest people to the airport I know live in Harrogate and it's hardly on their priority list. Best I can really do is repost any social media activity by the airport
Well, I hope others have a more positive outlook. Its up to you if you dont want to do any more than the bare minimum. If this doesnt get passed your hobby could be diminished but again that's your choice. You hit the the nail on the head LBAYORKIE, it's a hobby, at least it is for most of us on here although I do realise that a number of forum members either do work at the airport of have done in the past - or might aspire to in the future. Similarly, I'm lucky enough to hold a season ticket for a premier league football club but I don't go to every home game and have never been to an away game...........there's more to life than football just as there is more to life than LBA - both are my hobbies.
I would, though, be absolutely astounded if the current planning escapade does not get passed, simply from a point of view of level playing field with other airports it should be passed. As White Heather and others have said it's legal process as opposed to a straight planning application.
